This is my little noob hijacking my pc when I went to put his baby brother down for a nap. Momma adjusted the headphones for him, and told him to do like daddy.. so he started growling at the screen, and saying "Boom! Boom!" in a muffled little voice through his bink.
oh yeah, and this is the little guy that DM-Elric is named after.

Very cute dude!
My son will be 10 in April, at which point I will install the original unreal on his pc - he can't wait to play it. I told him he can do UT gaming when he's about 12 or 13 - I'm very cautious about what my kids play, see, and do. _________________ Oooosssss!!!!

Very cute Does he like watching you play games? My kids like watching me, but don't like playing my games. I guess the controls are a little hard. I recently picked up Ultimate Doom for Windows 95 at a thrift shop, and thought my son (5yr old) would like playing it. He didn't think too much of it, said it was scary Hmm seems a little low budget to be scary to me. Oh well, I'll see if my daughter will like it. If nothing else I'll be able to play it in a virtual machine on my Core 8 Octo when I'm retired, and reminisce about my early days of computer gaming _________________ I've got your back

Well keep in mind Zoe, a little kid only needs the most basic imagery to set off their imagination. Their little minds kind "fill in the details" and try to go along with the basic principles of what they are viewing / hearing etc.
So those funny looking little monsters we see on the screen are actually pretty realistic to a little kid, and the corny noises we laugh at now, are probably frightening to someone who's never heard them before.
I teach my boys to be brave and stand up to stuff,... to a degree. Hmm tough to explain but I'll try. I let,.. well mostly Elric so far cause Christian can't "Wrestle" yet. But I let Elric beat me sometimes, most of the time really.
Let me back up a bit,.. First of all keep in mind I'm very gentle with my kids and no one will ever hear any of those wrestling horror stories you see on the news coming from my house.
My brother in law has 3 girls. He wrestles with them, and pins them for the 3 count. He has them saying "daddy won!" and has them tapping to fake little submission moves. (like I said though he's very gentle like I am. even tho I refuse to wrestle with the girls myself.)
When I wrestle with my boys, I let them win. I taught them that when I pin them and start counting, they are to kick out at 3 every time! Elric gets a BIG smile on his face and always kicks and jumps up, runs around me and yells and stuff before commencing to smack me with a pillow or his big stuffed marshmallow Peep. He also used to do a little hand gesture from one of the current WWE champs, John Cena,.. he'd wave his hand in front of his face open palmed and say "You can't see me." in little kid-ish language... but that evolved into him smacking his binky (pacifier) making it do a kind of puff puff noise,.. and then charge me with a headbut to my chest.
Even with all this, he still didn't take much teaching at all to stay very gentle with his cousins (the girls) and with his baby brother.
Basically what this all boils down to is context. Keep things in context and you can expose kids to laot more than most people give them credit for.
Gotta jet the baby's waking up. _________________ Respawning Tickles |
