Our very own Oldman(Co30) has won "week one" of the http://www.extremetech.com PC Case Mod Contest 2007. Since he's too busy wondering what do do with all those neat prizes instead of bragging about it himself i thought i'd rip extremetech's write up off (here - with larger photos) and repost it. Good work Oldman well deserved kudo's ! Good luck in the main contest !

Thumb Clap Thumb Clap Thumb Clap Thumb Clap Thumb Clap Thumb Clap

The first weekly prize in ExtremeTech's 2007 Case Mod Contest goes to John Wudl, of West Middlesex, Pennsylvania. We were extremely impressed by the fine woodworking and paint craftsmanship on his Dragon case mod. John wins the following prizes from Cooler Master: a Centurion 532 Case worth $85, a Centurion 534 Case ($75), an iGreen 600w PSU ($130), a GeminII cooler ($45), an Xcraft 350 HDD Enclosure ($50), and even more gear.

Here is a description of the Dragon case mod in John's own words, along with some pictures:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Dragon Case is a Black Walnut case made of inch stock biscuit and glued. It measures 22 by 19 by 9 inches. The front of the case has a four-bay drive cage with a DVD, grilled hard drive for air, multifunction panel, and switch/LED. Below that you will find the air intake collar that was inserted into the face of the case housing a 130mm and 90 mm opening. The grills are made of oak, a pattern-transferred on the wood and cut out on a table scroll saw.

The window side-panel upper section was made of Plexiglas and then sprayed with Stone paint (gray flake). Moving down to the lower half, you find the Dragon cutout again of oak, design transferred onto the wood and cutout with a table scroll saw then contoured using a Dremel with a mini drum sander. All decals are sprayed with gold sparkle paint. Dragon backing of inch birch was sprayed Red, both finished with clear spray. The case is sanded with 600 grit then Hand Waxed with Johnson's Paste wax.

As you can see, the inside is custom made for one video card that happens to be an EVGA 7900 GTX . The back panel houses 2 120mm Low speed High volume fans running at 78cfm with a 21db rating. XP90c setting on the e6600 Processor, now with 4 gigabytes of OCZ 6400 and an ASUS P5N32-E SLI Plus Motherboard. The operating system is Vista.

(Do you have to pay tax on those prizes in the USA ?)
