For any of you who monitor networks, me, a couple of other Co30's anyone else ? This free program is a complete windows based NMS system (will run in Linux under wine ) and it appears very powerful ...and it's free.

Be careful what subnet you choose to scan though, in order to kill overly large subnet you need to kill the background process. HP Openview - who needs it ? This program is hands down the best thing i've run across out of the box NMS for just plain old network monitoring. Did I mention it's free ? Of course you can build your own from open source tools - but why when this is available ... and free.

Hope they don't start charging for it. Unbelievable they'd release such a powerful tool for free. They have a tiny bit of advertising in a window bar but its very discrete and barely noticable. Did i mention it's free ??

They also have some other handy net tools http://www.mikrotik.com/download.html

(ahh geek excitement ... sad really Very Happy ... but it's free Smilie )
